Energy use drops because the lamp heats only the target zone, not the idle draw you get from full-chamber convection. Cycle time tightens because the pane hits breaking temperature quickly, so the line doesn’t stall. Yield improves because uniform heat cuts down on thermal stress and prevents uncontrolled fractures—fewer edge defects, more breaks that land on spec. Here’s the thing: you still have to treat it like a process, not a bolt-in miracle. Installation comes down to alignment and clearance. The emitter needs to sit on the score line clean—no shadowing, and no overheating nearby components. Check reflectors and insulation for fit, and make sure the power supply matches the lamp rating so you don’t invite current spikes. High humidity and dust will shorten lamp life, so keep the fixture clean and dry. And if you want repeatability across shifts, plan on periodic calibration.
