You need a proper IP-rated enclosure to keep the moisture out. Since these things get incredibly hot, they need room to breathe. If you cram them into a tiny housing, you’re going to scorch your walls or trip the safety switch. One last tip: keep an eye on the lamp holders. If the fit is loose, the contacts oxidize, which creates resistance and burns out the ends of the tube way too fast. Also, make sure your wiring can handle that first big surge of power when you flip the switch, otherwise, you’ll get that annoying flickering.
